Nearly 50 % posts of guards, who are in charge of running trains, and 20% posts of gangmen, who take care of track maintenance are lying vacant in ECoR, sources said. In the station master category of the total sanctioned strength of 1620, as many as 333 posts are vacant. Of the total 3,000 guard posts, 1,450 are lying vacant and out of total sanctioned post of 11,176 gang men 2,284 are lying vacant. Of the 443 sanctioned posts for junior engineers on track maintenance 419 are on the roll. Similarly nearly 1,262 locomotive pilot posts are vacant in the ECoR, official sources said. Railways to recruit 20,000 youths

Jamshedpur: Railway Recruitment Board  is all set to recruit 20,000 youths on various posts in the Railway department. Three departments of the Railways had given suggestions for new recruitments. The plan for recruitment for the year 2017-18 is ready and very soon applications would be invited from candidates after publication of the job notification. Sources said the Railway is likely to recruit 13,000 youths on general posts under Group C and D in the first stage. In the second stage, 7000 new train drivers would be recruited. The vacant posts are to be filled at zonal level. This would enhance the manpower of Railways. As per Jawahar Lal, convener of Railway Men’s Union, Chakradharpur division, recruitments have become necessary since most railway departments are short of staff. Most vacancies are in the safety category.
